SAI Hostel (Cuttack) emerged champions in the28th Jadupur Cup Football Tournament, defeating Friends Paradise (Jatani) by 2-0 goals in the final at Jadupur ground here today. The champion team received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and the runner-up outfit took home Rs 10,000.
S K Samal of SAI Hostel was adjudged the player of the tournament. Odisha Sports Minister Sudam Marndi handed over the trophy in the presence of Tourism Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, host Jadupur Athletic Association president Dilawar Khan and secretary Sk Daud Ali. Altogether eight teams have joined the tournament.
RESULTS:
January 30 (1st QF): Kishore Club, Bhubaneswar (Asutosh Pradhan 3rd) beat Odisha Home Guard, Cuttack (Adil Khan 22nd) 6-5 in tie-breaker. (Full-time: 1-1). Man of the match: Bibhu Ranjan Champati (Kishore Club).
January 31 (2nd QF): SAI Hostel, Cuttack beat Mangala Club, Cuttack 6-5 in tie-breaker. MoM: Anil Jena (SAI Hostel).
February 1 (1st Semifinal): SAI Hostel, Cuttack beat Kishor Club 3-1 in tie-breaker. MoM: Sk Kamal-uddin (SAI Hostel).
February 2 (3rd QF): Government Sports Hostel beat Odisha Police 4-3 in tie-breaker.
February 3 (4 th QF): Friends Paradise, Jatani beat United Sports Club, Raurkela 4-3 via penalty shoot out. MoM: Saroj Moharana (Friends Paradise).
February 4 (2nd Semifinal): Friends Paradise (Benu Mangaraj 32nd, Tofan Nayak 35th) beat Cuttack Sports Hostel (Pankaj Minz 16th) 2-1.
February 5 (Final): SAI Hostel (Saswat Swain 8th, Rajesh Nayak 55th) beat Friends Paradise 2-0. MoM: Rajesh Nayak
